Flat 1, 3 Bridge Street, Abingdon on Thames, Oxford.
Situated right in the heart of Abingdon this one bedroom flat in a converted Victorian building looks out over much of the historic town. Abingdon is the oldest continuously inhabited town in Britain, a trading centre for tribal Britons. Abingdon Abbey was founded in the 7th century and was larger than Westminster Abbey is today. After the dissolution of the monasteries the Abbey itself was destroyed but some of the buildings remain and can be seen from the windows of the flat. St Nicolas church was built in the 12th century by the Abbey and beside the church is Abingdon Abbey gate. From the bedroom window you can see the old County Hall (featured on the left) built between 1678 and 1682 by a master mason who had worked for Sir Christopher Wren on St Paul’s Cathedral. It now houses Abingdon’s museum.
