The Crow’s Nest and Smugglers Den flat in Smugglers Ride , St Marys, the Isles of Scilly.
The Isles of Scilly Spring comes early to these lovely islands thirty miles south west of Cornwall. Warmed by the gulf stream, frosts are a rarity and subtropical plants thrive. There are wonderful walks, great seascapes and cosy pubs and restaurants to enjoy along with the many birds and beautiful landscape. History Smugglers Ride was once an Inn called the Fisherman’s Arms, it has now been converted into self contained holiday flats all privately owned.
Accommodation The two flats we can offer are Smugglers Den and The Crow’s Nest.
Smugglers Den is a good sized twin bedroom flat. It is at beach level (the beach literally outside the back door) and was converted from the cellars of the old inn. This flat is ideal for friends or couples, with the twin bedroom, bathroom, living room with fitted kitchen and dining area.
The Crow’s Nest is situated up some windy stairs on the second floor where you get some wonderful views. From this flat you can see the harbour, golf course, Tresco, Tean and the Round Island Lighthouse. This flat is perfect for couples with it’s double bedded room, shower room and lounge diner with kitchen area. There is a bed settee in the lounge so would be suitable for friends who want separate rooms but not really more than two people.
Getting There St Mary’s can be reached by helicopter or boat from Penzance or by fixed wing aircraft from Land’s End and other airports in the south. There is a good rail service to Penzance with connecting services to the Island. Mini buses meet the aircraft and will drop you 50 metres from the flat.
